Yessenia is a filmmaker from Northern California, now based in Los Angeles, with current narrative credits including editing Season 3 of LOST MEMORIES, a TV series for Alzheimer's Los Angeles; Editing a short film as a cohort member for the Find Your People Program organized by Issa Rae's, Deniese Davis and Talitha Watkins' Color Creative; And her short film DOUBLE CULTURA was the winner of MAX's Latino Short Film Competition (2023) which streamed on MAX until September 2024.
Most of Yessenia's narrative projects touch on multiculturalism, community and resiliency. She appreciates the subtle in-between moments of a story because she believes that’s where they carry the most weight. Through her editing, Yessenia enjoys slowly revealing emotionally driven characters, creating space for honest, lived experiences, and guiding the spectator to see and value new perspectives. With every film, Yessenia aims to add her personal touch and learn something new that can inspire the work she does on a future project. |
